Celebrancy information

What does a wedding Celebrant actually do?

A celebrant is a person who performs or officiates ceremonies marking some of life's biggest milestones.

A celebrant’s role is to create a custom-made, meaningful ceremony that captures the heart of the couple and family.
This includes, but is not limited to:

-
following legal responsibilities.
-
playing an important role in the lead up to your wedding, as well as the wedding ceremony.
-
taking care of all the background work and paperwork before the actual wedding ceremony, in order for the wedding to be legal in Australia.
-
getting to know you and find out how you wish to have your wedding.
-
finding ways to include and involve all your favourite people or pets.
-
writing your ceremony.
-
helping with your vows.
-
personalising your ceremony.
-
announcing at the ceremony that I am authorised to solemnise marriages according to the law in Australia.
-
using the mandatory Monitum and also the Declaration for both marriage partners.
-
creating a custom made, meaningful ceremony that isn't religious.
-
conducting your ceremony independently from any belief system but will happily incorporate religious and spiritual elements into any service.
-
dressing up and bringing enthusiasm to do any themed or cosplay ceremonies.
-
giving you opportunity to practise the wording you select, and in most cases, we will meet for a rehearsal.
-
preparing all the required paperwork for the wedding day.
-
ensuring that the legal forms you and your witnesses need to sign are ready.
-
submitting all the legal forms required after the wedding ceremony to BDM (Births, Deaths, and Marriages) making sure the marriage is legally recognised.
